Meet Taylor Sourwine
Taylor Sourwine, of Camillus, NY, is our latest Campaign for Better Hearing Give Back Program recipient. Taylor, who has one-sided hearing loss related to congenital osteogenesis imperfecta, is a longtime patient of ours. She got her first hearing aid 3 years ago, and she and her family had to significantly change their lifestyle in order to afford it. She recently came into our office, and we discovered hearing loss in her other ear as well. As a schoolteacher and the mother of two, including a newborn, Taylor is emotional, worrying about the others in her life. Without treatment, this new hearing loss could cause problems in the classroom, as well as at home with her own children.
While she lived with hearing loss in one ear for the last 11 years, learning her second ear had significant damage was heartbreaking. Around the time Taylor found out about her new hearing loss, she learned that her son suffers from hearing loss also.
Taylor is a hard worker, with roles as a mother and a math intervention specialist for grades 3 through 6, as well as running her own clothing line company, which donates its proceeds to local charities. Since Taylor is so giving to her family and community, we wanted to give back to her with brand-new hearing aids.
Congratulations, Taylor!
