Meet Lori Brummett
Lori Brummett is our Derby, Kansas recipient. Lori’s journey with hearing issues began as a child, when she first experienced her own hearing loss. As an adult, her hearing loss worsened, leading to her undergoing a stapedectomy in her right ear in 2009, and then again in her left ear in 2012, both due to otosclerosis (abnormal bone growth inside the ear). Due to cost, these procedures were originally postponed, and were meant to take place earlier in her life. Lori originally had hearing aids seven years ago, but they broke, and she was unable to get them repaired or replaced.
Lori has difficulty following conversations, especially when surrounded by other noises. At her work as a scheduler at a doctor’s office, she must turn her telephone volume to the max in order to hear. Her husband works both a full-time and part-time job to provide for their adopted seven-year-old daughter. Although the couple do what they need to make ends meet, they do not have the income to help Lori get the treatment she needs for her hearing.
Our HearingLife team decided that Lori was the perfect candidate for our Campaign for Better Hearing Give Back Program. With her new hearing aids, she looks forward to being able to be engaged in church, as well as to hear and understand conversations with family, friends and coworkers.
Lori is a loyal and loving wife and mother who enjoys swimming, movies and playing with her daughter. When asked how she felt with her new hearing aids, she said, “[They are] awesome. Just enjoying hearing people and being able to have a conversation with no issues in the car and hear [my daughter] pray.”
Congratulations, Lori!
